Elements of Competency Performance Criteria
Element: Research printmaking materials and processes
  • Investigate ways that other artists have used different printmaking materials and processes
  • Research physical properties and capabilities of a range of printmaking materials
  • Evaluate how different technical effects are achieved through the combination of different materials and print techniques
  • Investigate safety issues associated with different materials and processes
  • Collate and store safety and technical data to meet safety requirements for use
  • Determine cost and supply issues for different materials

Element: Select printmaking materials and processes for exploration
  • Discuss characteristics and opportunities of particular printmaking materials and processes with required personnel
  • Evaluate creative and professional opportunities offered by different printmaking materials and processes
  • Identify and assess limitations and constraints of particular materials and processes
  • Select a particular range of materials and processes that suit own practice

Element: Integrate printmaking materials and processes into own work
  • Explore own new and different ways of working with materials and processes
  • Assess effects of different materials and processes through experimentation with samples, practice pieces or works in progress
  • Proactively identify and resolve technical problems with material use
  • Develop own ways of working with materials and processes to create individual style
  • Develop a coherent body of printmaking work that shows command of selected printmaking materials
  • Use safe work practices for handling materials and disposal of waste

Element: Manage printmaking materials
  • Establish supply of printmaking materials which meets price, quality and delivery expectations
  • Develop ways of working with materials that minimise waste
  • Maintain quality and maximise shelf-life of printmaking materials through appropriate handling and storage

Submission Requirements

List each assessment task's title, type (eg project, observation/demonstration, essay, assignment, checklist) and due date here

Assessment task 1: [title]      Due date:

(add new lines for each of the assessment tasks)

Assessment Tasks

Copy and paste from the following data to produce each assessment task. Write these in plain English and spell out how, when and where the task is to be carried out, under what conditions, and what resources are needed. Include guidelines about how well the candidate has to perform a task for it to be judged satisfactory.
Copy and paste from the following performance criteria to create an observation checklist for each task. When you have finished writing your assessment tool every one of these must have been addressed, preferably several times in a variety of contexts. To ensure this occurs download the assessment matrix for the unit; enter each assessment task as a column header and place check marks against each performance criteria that task addresses.

Observation Checklist
